What Makes Credit Unions Different?
Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has celebrated the positive impact credit unions make in the lives of their members and communities. Today, more than 400 million members across over 100 countries are part of a global movement built on a simple but powerful belief: financial services should work for people.
Unlike traditional banks, credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members. Rather than focusing on generating profits for outside shareholders, credit unions prioritize the financial well-being of the people they serve.
That means providing opportunities to save, borrow, learn, and build stronger financial futures while investing in the communities we call home.
